Monroe Police Department - Police Officer

The City of Monroe (Population, 10,820) Police Department is seeking an energetic, community-minded individual to fill an immediate Police Officer vacancy, and to create a list for anticipated additional positions.  Monroe Police Officers are guardians of the community. Responsibilities include: enforcing laws and ordinances/ preventive patrol by vehicle/ bike or foot/responding to calls for service/ assisting all persons with their needs. Monroe officers take complaints/ answer questions/ resolve disputes and protect public safety. Our officers receive considerable training and obtain experience in special tactics/ special events and community policing.

A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.  An Associate's Degree or 60 college credits is required.  Preference will be given to those with prior law enforcement experience, and those with prior experience may be able to start at a higher rate of lateral compensation/vacation, up to a 5 year level.  Contract bargaining is currently underway for beyond 2023.

The City of Monroe offers a generous fringe benefits package, including uniform allowance, issued sidearm, life insurance, overtime, holiday pay, vacation, 85% paid health insurance, and 94% paid Wisconsin Retirement. This position involves a 6-3 schedule shift work, including working weekends and holidays.
