For community policing purposes, Monroe is divided into Districts.

LOCATION AND SIZE:
Includes all of the City of Monroe west of 13th Avenue, and is about six (6) square miles in size.
CITY GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATION:
- Ward 5 (about half)
- Ward 6 (about half)
- Ward 8 (about half)
- Ward 9
DISTRICT DEMOGRAPHICS:
This district contains mostly business and industrial areas, mainly in the west side, southwest side and near west sides of the city. There are two elementary schools and a technical college campus in this district. Colony Brands, RR Donnelley Business Forms, Orchid-Advance Transformer, Badger State Ethanol, and numerous other employers are located in this district, along with large retail stores such as a Walmart Super Center and Farm & Fleet store, and large food stores such as Pick N Save and Piggly-Wiggly. The Fire Department Station 1 is located in this district.
East District
LOCATION AND SIZE:
Includes all of the City of Monroe east of 13th Avenue, and is about six (6) square miles in size.

DISTRICT DEMOGRAPHICS:
This district contains mostly residential areas, along with the general business district, industrial park and airport. Schools include the High School and Middle School, a public elementary and parochial elementary schools. The Monroe Clinic and The Monroe Clinic Hospital are located in the northeast part of this district.
Central District
LOCATION AND SIZE:
This district is a concentrated area that is part of the East Police District. It includes all of the area south of 6th Street, north of 18th Street, east of 13th Avenue and west of 20th Avenue. It is about two (2) square miles in size.
CITY GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATION:
- Ward 6 (small part)
- Ward 7
- Ward 8 (small part)
DISTRICT DEMOGRAPHICS:
This district contains the Downtown Square and general business district. The Historic Courthouse, Monroe City Hall, the Police and Fire Department Station 2 are located here. The Middle School is contained in this district. Due to the amount of business vehicular and pedestrian traffic here, this is a busy district.
